FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How do I find a new primary care physician?

Dr. Andrade is not aware of which offices are or are not accepting new patients, or which offices accept which insurances.  The best course of action is to call each office to determine if they are accepting new patients and do they participate with your insurance.

What if I have an appointment scheduled between June 9 and July 18?

Dr. Andrade will continue to see all patients in our office who have an appointment scheduled between June 9 and July 18.  If you do not want to keep your appointment, please call us to cancel that appointment so we can offer the spot to another patient.

What if I want to cancel the appointment I have scheduled between June 9 and July 18?

Currently all of Dr. Andrade‘s appointment spots between June 9 and July 18 are filled.  If you do not want to keep your appointment, please call us to cancel that appointment so we can offer that spot to another patient. You will still be able to schedule a telehealth appointment between July 18 and September 30.

What if I have an appointment scheduled after July 18?

All appointments currently on the schedule for after July 18, 2025, have been canceled. Dr. Andrade will schedule a limited number of telehealth appointments between July 18 and September 30.  Those appointments will primarily address reviewing labs and providing refills of medications.  To schedule a new telehealth appointment after July 18, please call Tomasina at (251) 278-8108 and leave a message - she will return your call after June 16.  If you have found a new physician and do not need an appointment, you do not need to do anything except provide us a written medical release for us to transfer your medical records to your new doctor.  See section below about requesting medical records.

What if I want to schedule one last appointment with Dr. Andrade?

Dr. Andrade will schedule a limited number of telehealth appointments between July 18 and September 30, after which she will no longer schedule any appointments.  If your insurance is commercial insurance, such as any states Blue Cross Blue Shield policy or Blue Advantage, you will need to be able to have both audio and visual for your appointment. We will be using Zoom for those appointments.  If your insurance is traditional, Medicare, Humana or United healthcare, you currently will only need to use audio ( i.e. telephone), unless Congress or your insurance changes the rules to require you to perform audio and video for an appointment.  If Congress or your insurance changes the rules to do away with telehealth altogether, Dr. Andrade will not be able to provide any appointments. Hopefully that does not occur.

To schedule a new telehealth appointment after July 18, please call Tomasina at (251) 278-8108 and leave a message - she will return your call after June 16.    If you currently have an appointment scheduled after July 18 it has been canceled. If you want to schedule a new telehealth appointment for after July 18 you must call Tomasina.  Telehealth appointments will primarily be for the reasons of reviewing lab work Dr. Andrade ordered and to provide patients with enough refills of current medication until they find a new physician.

Will my telehealth appointment require a visual option such as Zoom?

Some insurances will not pay for telehealth medical services without both video and audio during the appointment.  Those appointments must be performed using Zoom because Zoom is the only video option we will be using.  Patients are responsible for getting themselves access to perform Zoom appointments. If you do not have access to Zoom we will not be able to provide you a telehealth appointment.  The insurance companies that require video (i.e. Zoom) are all commercial policies, including all state Blue Cross Blue Shield policies and Blue Advantage.  The insurance companies that do not currently require a video option (i.e. Zoom) are Humana, traditional Medicare and United Healthcare.

What do I do if I have a lab order for future labs?

If you have an appointment with us between June 9 and July 18 or if you want to schedule a telehealth appointment between July 18 and September 30, you should have your labs drawn at least five business days before your scheduled appointment.

After September 30, or if you have found a new physician prior to September 30, do not use orders written by any Fairhope Family Medicine provider, as we will not have access to the results and the lab will not send the results to your new physician.  Bring the order to your new physician so that they can write a new order.

What issues will Dr. Andrade address at telehealth appointments after July 18?

Telehealth appointments between July 18 and September 30 will primarily be for the purpose of reviewing lab work and prescribing enough refills to give our patients the time to find a new primary care physician.  Dr. Andrade may or may not address other issues during the telehealth appointment on a case-by-case basis depending on urgency.
